Please note that I require the use of the company name or site name as the account name and the site domain as the container name. Of course, you can name them whatever you want - this is just a recommended best practice. In general, one of the best things to do when working with GTM is to make sure everything is clearly named. Otherwise, it's easy to make mistakes.
It is possible to manage multiple GTM containers within a single GTM account, but Google recommends creating one container per domain. You don't need to create a separate container for each individual tab or each individual page on your site. All tags can be placed in a container. For most companies and organizations, containers are a necessity. However, if a company has subsidiaries or separate businesses, each subsidiary/business' website should have its own container, and all containers can be managed from a single GTM account. The variables listed in the screenshot above are just some of the built-in variables available to the web container. Click the configure button to access many built-in variables. If you need a different type of variable that is not included in the built-in variables, you can create a user-defined variable.
